Hey, Friend,
People pleasing is not all bad, but sometimes you will have to choose between pleasing others and taking care of yourself. That includes having strong, healthy boundaries, not invisible boundaries that are always moving.
Self care is an act of worship to God your creator. It is your responsibility and no one else's. In today’s episode, I share some signs for you to look for to know if your people pleasing is interfering with your self care.
I pray this blesses you!

Hey, Friend,
Are you a people pleasing, conflict avoiding leader?
In today’s episode, I share some real problems that will surface in your organization if people pleasing is your blind spot.
People pleasing is not bad; we all want to be liked and we want to make others happy. But if people pleasing becomes your motivation it can kill your credibility and greatly reduce your effectiveness as a leader.
I pray this blesses you!

Hey, Friend,
How many times have you said, “I’m a people pleaser” as an explanation for why you are working so hard to make everyone else happy? You are not alone.
A 2024 poll by YouGov found that 49% of American adults consider themselves people pleasers. In addition, 92% reported that they engage in people-pleasing behaviors from time-to-time.
In today’s episode, the first of a three-part series on people pleasing, I share some reasons why people are committed to people pleasing.
Is people pleasing a good trait? It can be.
Is people pleasing unhealthy? It can also be that.
In next week’s episode, I pose the question: Is People Pleasing Your Leadership Blind Spot?
And in the last of the three-part series: People Pleasing vs. Self Care.
I hope you give this series a listen.
I pray this blesses you.

Hey, Friend!
There are some days when I think I am a pretty good listener. Other days, I am highly distracted and all of my listening skills go out the window. Does that sound like you?
Let’s commit together to becoming better listeners. It will enhance our relationships, build trust in our leadership, and minimize frustration when we walk away from conversations barely remembering what was said.
So, I have compiled 10 tips for becoming a better listener. I am committed to putting them into practice. How about you?
I pray this blesses you,

Hey, Friend!
Everyone starts a new job wanted to make a good impression. You want those who hired you to know that they made a good hire. So you listen to those eager to tell you all of the things you should change right away.
But don’t be fooled. Although there may be some things that need immediate attention, such as immediately putting child safety measures in place, or filling a spot in a classroom, most change needs to wait until you have laid the foundation.
I am suggesting three priorities you need to have in your first year of ministry, before you begin making changes.
Establish Credibility
Lead with Curiosity
Build Relationships
Each one of these is more relational than task oriented, but will help tremendously as you get others on board with any change that needs to be made.
I pray this blesses you!

Hey, friend!
Think about those times you have interacted with someone who is passive-aggressive, or who has a hidden agenda. Someone who says one thing but means another. It is unsettling, disorienting, and just plain exhausting.
In contrast, it is SO refreshing it is to interact with someone who is ernest. Someone who is sincere, genuine, and straightforward. Someone who is honest, authentic, and transparent not only in their communication, but in their actions.
In today’s episode, I share 8 benefits of being ernest, why it is good to be ernest, and how it benefits your leadership, and your relationships.
I pray this blesses you!

Hey, Friend!
If you want to grow and develop in the workplace, you have to be coachable, meaning that you must be able to welcome feedback and act on what you are learning about yourself.
In today’s episode, I compare the qualities of someone who is coachable with someone who is not. As a leader who is responsible for developing those under her leadership, you will want to begin with those employees or volunteers who demonstrate coachability, if you want to see optimum growth and development.
And while you are at it, make sure that you are demonstrating coachability yourself!
I pray this blesses you,

Hey, Friend!
I am a huge fan of Brene' Brown’s work. In her book, Dare to Lead she introduces the idea of the Rumble, a conversation where the participants agree to enter with an open mind and a soft heart. In today’s episode, I share what I have learned about the Rumble.
It is a learning exercise whereby you seek to understand more than you seek to be understood. It requires curiosity, humility and a commitment to the health of your relationship, or repairing it if need be.
It absolutely works.
I pray this blesses you,

Hey, Friend!
Every organization, even every church has a culture and a climate. The culture is what matters to us, how we do things here. The climate is the essence - what it feels like to work here and to be here.
In today’s episode, I share how you can use finesse to protect and enrich the climate of your organization. It involves three options:
Preventative Measures (building trust)
Maintenance Measures (addressing conflict)
Repair Measures (honest, non-threatening conversations)
I pray this blesses you,

Leadership Becomes Her

Simple, Strategic Solutions for Christian Women Who Lead

Do you find yourself in a leadership role at your church or non-profit with the education you need but without leadership training?

Do you ever feel like you don’t have a voice or that your voice is not being heard?

Have you been told that you are too much or not enough?

Do you worry about what others think of you?

Are your secret fears affecting your leadership?

Do you run from conflict at all costs, convincing yourself that you are fine when, clearly, you are not?

Do you put yourself last, postponing any type of self-care because you are trying to take care of and please everyone else?

Have you started to question your calling?

The mission of Leadership Becomes Her is to help Christian women who serve in churches as a vocation or a volunteer, or women who work in non-profits or small business by equipping you to lead with faith, confidence, and purpose. You will learn to own your giftedness while identifying areas of growth in your leadership so you can navigate a path for transforming into the leaders God is calling you to be.

All too often, women who volunteer in churches or non-profits, as well as stay-at-home-moms do not see yourselves as leaders. However, volunteers are often given huge responsibilities by organizations that cannot afford to hire more employees and stay-at-home-moms usually manage the entire household. It is important to note that leadership is not about power, it is about responsibility and women throughout the ages have demonstrated just how responsible they are.

I emphasize foundational leadership skills like: establishing credibility, finding your courage and overcoming fear, building confidence, learning to communicate effectively, and developing strategies for managing conflict in a way that strengthens relationships.

You will learn how to master your mindset and overcome fear

You will develop the toolbox to lead and manage your life, and resolve conflict in a way that builds healthy relationships
