Leadership Becomes Her: Simple, Strategic Solutions for Christian Women Who Lead

You read it correctly! It may feel like writing a book is a solo activity but it actually takes a village to publish a book that looks professional inside and out. My village began with my writing/publishing coach, who I talk about in this episode. She provided my accountability and gave me strategies for planning, writing, publishing and promoting the book.
In next week’s episode, I will also share how the rest of my village helped make my dream a reality. This began with friends who served as my initial readers, to my professional editor and graphic designers, all of whom took my manuscript from words on a page to a beautiful book.

In today’s episode, I share how I took my lifelong hope and dream of becoming a published author and made it a reality when I was 64 years old by simply rolling up my sleeves and going to work. The bonus was that I did it in collaboration with 13 other women who shared the load.
We wrote a collaborative book that became the first in a trilogy of books by women for women. We also used the royalties from our books to help other women in significant ways, but you will have to listen to this episode to find out what we did. Today’s episode is short, under 10 minutes, but it is my hope that it inspires you to make your hopes and dreams a reality by rolling up your sleeves.

Most of us know what it is like to ruminate over something we said or did, even beating ourselves up over it. It is a terrible habit that doesn’t make the mistake better, nor does it keep us from making that same mistake again.
There is a better way.

I am continuing with the topic of Credibility, which is a foundational skill of leadership. Last week, I talked about 5 Dead Giveaways that You’re not a Credible Leader, and you might have been shocked to find yourself and something you are doing on that episode and you might be wondering what you can do to fix any mistakes you have been making.
Credibility is when others trust your leadership. You earn credibility by having a strong value system and consistent habits that reflect your value system.
So, Think of credibility as your working reputation. It is what people are saying about you. If you are not intentional about building strong credibility with those you work with and who work for you, you may find yourself unintentionally doing things that are credibility killers.
The good news is that if your actions, your habits have killed your credibility, it CAN be raised from the dead by developing new habits that are actually in line with your value system.
Today, I am going to suggest my blueprint, 5 ways you can repair and restore your credibility, and if you love Jesus, you will recognize that these 5 ways to repair and restore your credibility are in line with his teachings.

Self-Reflection: Matt. 7:1-6, Romans 12:2
Humility: Luke 14:11, Luke 18:14, Matt. 18:1-35
Ownership: Matt. 5:23-24

Like confidence and courage that I talked about in earlier episodes, credibility is one of the pillars of leadership. Credibility is earned and in this week’s episode, I suggest some practices that build credibility, as well as some habits that are credibility killers.
Your credibility is your working reputation; it is what others are saying about you. So it is important that your credibility is a reflection of your value system, what really matters to you. Consistency is the key. People need to know what to expect from you. They need to feel that your word is your bond. That does not leave any room for passive-aggressive communication, game-playing, or sarcasm with those under your leadership. Those are credibility killers.
So, give it a listen. And as you do, consider the credibility of your leadership.

This week, in episode 4 of my new podcast:

I pose the question: What is Your Relationship With Fear? We all have fear in our lives and fear actually has a purpose. In fact, fear is designed to be your friend until you make it your boss. In this episode, we take a look at what activates fear, and I suggest some simple questions you can ask yourself as you decide if you should listen to fear because it is trying to keep you safe, or not listen to fear because it is trying to keep you stuck.
I encourage you to google scriptures that have to do with fear. There are a ton of them! I chose Isiah 41:10 for this episode.
After listening to this episode, my challenge to you is to examine an area in which you have a lot of fear. Ask yourself a series of questions as suggested in this episode to see if fear is something you should pay attention to or not. I also challenge you to find an area in which you can step outside of your comfort zone. That is where all of the learning and growing takes place. It is where all of the MAGIC happens!!! Then email me and let me know what happened when you took that leap of faith.
